Carta a mi mismoEsa tarde el correo había cambiado su rutinaria costumbre de llegar sólo los domingos y había decidido interrumpir una sesión de lectura junto a la chimenea al señor de la casa.Carta a mi mismo
Los criados, al enterarse de la llegada del correo para el señor, habían corrido escaleras arriba en tropel para preparar la habitación donde el amo trataba sus documentos. Encendieron la chimenea, cerraron las ventanas, llenaron el tintero, prepararon nuevas hojas de papel y plumas, colocaron una manta doblada sobre la silla y alumbraron la estancia con una vela.

El canto del violoncelloBajó las escaleras, atraída por la música, que era, prácticamente, un lamento. Sus pisadas resonaron en el mármol de los escalones y en el tenue y solitario vestíbulo. En el salón, una espalda vestida de negro destacaba entre las sábanas blancas que cubrían todos los muebles, excepto un espejo, de marco dorado ornamentado, que reflejaba la figura de un hombre joven, el cual sujetaba el violoncello que gemía aquella melodía. Frotaba sus cuerdas lentamente, como una suave caricia y el violoncello gemía de placer…Un placer triste, lastimero, bello…una odEl canto del violoncello
